Climate
Guyana has a warm, tropical climate characterized by two distinct seasons: a dry season from December to April and a wet season from May to November. According to the Guyana Meteorological Service, during the dry months, the country experiences “moderate to strong winds, warm days, and cooler nights, with occasional rainfall mostly in the form of showers due to daytime convection.” During the wet months, there are “lower wind speeds, hot humid days, and a marked increase in rainfall due to equatorial weather systems and shifting tropical systems.”
Generally, if you are accustomed to colder climates, Guyana might feel quite warm and humid, so it’s a good idea to plan your outfits accordingly, especially during the dry season. If you come from a hot, desert-like environment, you’ll likely feel right at home under the bright sunshine. However, do be prepared for sudden and heavy rain showers, particularly from May to November.
